Keys get lost, copied and never handed back. Access control lets you decide who can get in, which doors they can use and when, without handing out a single key.

Applewood Fire & Security designs, installs and maintains access control for businesses and shared buildings across Crawley and the rest of Sussex. We’ll help you work out who needs which doors, and when.

Who we help in Crawley

  • Landlords and facilities managers of multi-tenant offices and shared industrial premises.
  • Businesses on Manor Royal and around Gatwick: offices, warehouses and industrial units with staff, visitors and contractors coming and going.
  • Managing agents looking after entrances, bin stores and car parks at blocks of flats.
  • Schools, nurseries and community buildings, where you need to know who is on site.
  • Homeowners and landlords of shared houses, where a keypad or fob suits better than keys.

Shared workplaces on Manor Royal

If several firms share your building and staff work shifts, keys soon get out of hand. Manor Royal, next to Gatwick Airport, is the largest business district in the Gatwick Diamond, with more than 600 businesses in around 700 units, from aircraft simulation to distribution and food production. Access control lets each tenant’s staff use their own doors at the times they need, and a lost fob can be switched off instead of changing the locks.

Offices and flats in central Crawley

In the town centre and nearby neighbourhoods such as Northgate, Southgate and Three Bridges, office buildings and blocks of flats often have one main entrance shared by many people. A fob or card system means residents and staff use their own credential, a managing agent can add or remove people, and you can see which door was used and when.

Our access control services

Survey and design

We look at each door, who needs to use it and when, and whether it also needs an intercom or a gate.

Installation

We install Paxton access control, and we fit 2N where a door also needs an intercom. Systems can use fobs, cards or keypads, and can work alongside your intruder alarm, CCTV and door entry.

Maintenance and support

If you already have access control, we can maintain it, add doors or users, or replace it, even if another company put it in. We also offer 24/7 support for customers on a maintenance contract.

Accreditations

We hold NSI Systems Silver approval for intruder alarms, CCTV and access control.

Access control questions

Do you cover all of Crawley?
Yes, every neighbourhood, Manor Royal and the town centre, as well as the rest of Surrey, Sussex, Kent, London and Essex.

What happens if someone loses a fob or card?
You switch that fob or card off, and issue a new one. Nobody needs to change the locks.

Can you add access control to doors we already have?
Usually, yes. We’ll check your doors, frames and power during the survey and tell you what’s needed.

Can you take over a system someone else installed?
Yes. We’ll check it over and tell you what can stay.

When can I call you?
Our office is open Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00. We also offer 24/7 support for customers on a maintenance contract.
